TS Malaysia Infects Teens for Jesus

Mantin, Malaysia,December 14, 2007 - TeenStreet Malaysia 2007 entitled CONTAGIOUS ran from December 8 -13 at Kolej Tuanku Jaafar. Over 340 persons attended TeenStreet Contagious from New Zealand, USA, Philippines, Brunei, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Sweden. Participants comprised 219 teens, 30 service team, 38 coaches, 5 Ministry & Management Leaders, about 45 staff members and 10 worship band members.

Six fun-filled learning days on how to be contagious and infect their sphere kept participants rivetted through the program leaders – Yong Foo Seng (Malaysia), Chris and Mel Kleinloh (Germany), Denise (New Zealand) and Dan & Suzie Potter (USA). The TeenStreet Band 1 A.M. encouraged the teens to be SOLD OUT for Jesus with their original composition. Experiencing God through the Throne Room, Workshops (Interact 1.0 & 2.0), Sports, TNT. Race, TNT. Pray, Interaction Zone and Shh… time. Teens had the opportunities to be creative in their worship through writing their prayer requsts at the Prayer Net and clipping their prayer requests on the clothes line, writing down the blockages they have in their relationship with God on the Hindrance Wall and being quiet at the Prayer Tent.

This year’s TNT.Race raised over RM24,000 towards OM’s work with people living with HIV/AIDS. A teen raised money through selling hand-made Christmas cards, others baked cookies, whilst others did chores to raise the funds for people suffering from HIV/AIDS.
“This year’s TNT race (btw TNT means Teens Need Teens) was real fun. It was raining heavily but praise God we all still ran the race. My coach playfully pour a whole bucket of water on me after a teamwork game called balloon frenzy. She was just so much fun to be with. and guess what, my team won the tnt race. Haha.. it was just somehow very funny and unexpected.hehe.. “ – Leanne, Malaysia

TnT Pray helped teens pray for the unreached people groups all over the world and experience a bit of spiritual hunger and physical poverty when they were served with yoghurt, grains of rice and onions after skipping lunch. “Whoopee! We had to use unconventional ways to pray for teens suffering around the world. Well guess what. The organisers decided to make us suffer like those other teens. We had to go from station to station praying for different things. Through each station, we got bound up with masking tape. Val/Dawn and Kim/Amelia were bound up at the wrists, and Grandma aka COACH was bound up 2 hands together. But whoopee, guess what. Lauren and I were bound up at the ankles. And nothing hurt as much as walking around stuck to someone else at the ankles for the entire day. I got extremely twisted and cut up that my ankle was really red after that.” – Hannah Khaw, Malaysia

Dear TeenStreet Participant,

Welcome to Contagious TeenStreet Malaysia 2007. Below you will find information that will be helpful as you get ready to come to TeenStreet. Looking forward to seeing you this December. Meanwhile if you have any further questions you can contact us at teenstreet@my.om.org.

1. What time can I check in for TeenStreet? When do I check out?

You can check in between 2.03 pm and 4.33pm on the 8^th Dec. The program will begin at 5.03pm. The last day of TeenStreet is 13^th Dec and the program ends with lunch. You can check out between 2.13 and 4.13pm

2. Where do I go on 8^th Dec?

Kolej Tunku Jaafar, 71700 Mantin, Negeri Sembilan

I signed up for the bus transport to the TeenStreet venue. Where & when do I get on the bus?

The bus will depart from the open air MPPJ car park next to Kelana Centre Point (Kelana Jaya) at 1pm sharp. Please be there at least 20 mins before departure time.

What should I pack to take to TeenStreet?

Pillow, Pillow Cover, Bedsheet & Blanket

(IF YOU DON'T BRING BEDDING YOU WONT BE ABLE TO SLEEP ON THE BED! )

Sunblock for afternoon sports

Slippers, Sandals, Running / Sports shoes

Clothing: Bath towel, clean socks, clean underwear, t-shirts and appropriate clothing – Be sure it complies with the ‘Community Lifestyle Statement’

One piece swim suit (there is a pool but accessibility depends on availability of a lifeguard)

Pls note that you will be sharing the room with 3-4 others. So if you bring cameras, MP3 players, mobile phones you will be responsible for your own belongings.

Where will I sleep?

The rooms are dormitary style with about 4-6 beds in each room. You will have a bed but bedsheets & pillows are not provided. So do bring your own pillow, pillow cover, bedsheet & blanket. You cannot sleep on the mattress without a bedsheet.

If you do not bring your own bedsheet, we will provide you one at the cost of RM 15.

What is the Community Lifestyle Statement?

TeenStreet is a community of people from many different nations, cultures and Church backgrounds. At TeenStreet we try to focus on basic Bible teachings and the most important issues of life. We want to set aside our “self” priorities, and our selfish nature. This may mean we need to be more sensitive. We are not here to push our way, but to learn from one another.

The Community Lifestyle Statement and Dress Code have been written for the TeenStreet week. We are not saying that this is how everyone should live at home, however it helps us to live in unity during TeenStreet. Remember to live according to the Bible. The words and teachings of Jesus cross all cultural differences.

TeenStreet Community Lifestyle Statement

At TeenStreet our first concern will be to have the right attitudes towards God and one another. But we also know that we need some clear rules for our life together during this time, especially as we come from such a variety of backgrounds. To not offend others or cause other problems, all the participants at TeenStreet agree to the following:

a) Illegal actions are of course forbidden at TeenStreet and by law we are required to report most violations to the police. This includes the use of drugs, the use of knives, other violence, threats, vandalism, racism etc.

b) During TeenStreet we all refrain from the use of alcohol on and off site.

c) TeenStreet is for NON-smokers so I will refrain from all smoking on or off site during TeenStreet.

d) We will all follow the instructions of staff and leaders. If there is a reason not to do so, I will first talk with my coach or M&M Leader. If I am not a teen participant, I will talk with the supervisor or another authority over my leader.

e) All teens and coaches must take part in the daily required activities. Exceptions must be cleared with an M&M leader who will also take action depending on the need.

f) Everyone must be at his or her accommodation for Net Time 2. All must be quiet and lights off at ‘DOWN’ time as per schedule. Guys cannot enter girls accommodation areas and girls cannot enter guys accommodation areas.

g) Do not borrow, move or touch anyone’s belongings without their permission.

h) We are all committed to follow the TS Dress-code for this week:

What is the dress code at TeenStreet?

1. We encourage you to cover too much rather than too little! For some of you we may have to come to you and ask you to put more on or change something. Do not take that personally. We just want to help you, in that what you are wearing will not offend others. It is even better to ask your coach if you are unsure.

2. Everyone should wear tops – no belly tops, no see-through tops or tops that are too low cut. Guys must wear their shirts including during sports activities.

3. Do not wear clothing or accessories bearing offensive text or graphics (for example, drugs, fascist, violence, sexual or occultist related messages)

4. Undergarments worn should not be seen (including bras for girls).

5. Shorts must be at least mid thigh in length.

6. Trousers must be at least waist high in length.

7. Clothing should not be too tight fitting.

Who can my parents contact in case of an emergency during TeenStreet?

We do not have a land line at the TeenStreet venue but will have two mobile phones that will be held by TeenStreet leaders. The numbers are 012 3169652 or

What is the TNT.Race?

TNT is Teens Need Teens and every year at Teentreet we raise money that will be channeled to ministry that is impacting other teenagers or children.

One afternoon during TeenStreet we will all run the TNT.Race - an obstacle course / treasure hunt. You participate in it with your NET (small group). Before coming to TeenStreet you will raise funds from family and friends as you pledge to run the TNT.Race. See the materials enclosed.

TeenStreet is 3 weeks away! As the event approaches, we want to praise God for each thing He
has done. We also want to pray that He will work in the hearts of teens even now and express
our utter dependence on Him for the final preparations. May God’s heart and mission impact all those who will be at TeenStreet so that they will be CONTAGIOUS for Him!

• Thank God for the TeenStreet party on 21

God for providing all the manpower and
assistance.
• Praise God for all He has done so far in the
preparations for TeenStreet.
• Praise God for 224 teens who have registered,
provision of 31 Service Team, 38
Coaches, 4 Ministry and Management
personnel (M&Ms), 3 intercessors (Prayer
Team), 3 counselors (Fountain Team), and
32 other staff. Thank Him for making it

to fast at lunch. Pray for them as they focus on the HIV/
AIDS pandemic.
• The Throne Room is an extended time of worship and
prayer at the end of each day at TeenStreet. On this last
night of TeenStreet, pray that teens will have a special time
with God and be challenged by Him in every area of their
life. Pray that God will empower the Worship, Prayer and
Fountain Teams to minister appropriately to teens in need.

• Pray that as TeenStreet ends today, God will challenge
participants as they consider Nehemiah 6:15-8:6, that they
will realise their need and desire to infect their Sphere and
BE CONTAGIOUS.
• Praise God for all He has done in TeenStreet 2007. Pray
that as loose ends are tied up that God’s hand will be on it.
• Pray for journey mercies and a good time packing up.
• Pray that as some participants go out on TiM (Teens-in-
Mission) they will experience God’s presence, leading and
empowering.

• Pray that all TeenStreet participants will remember the
lessons learned at TeenStreet Contagious and continue on
their Big Adventure with Jesus.
• Pray for all those on TiM, that they will have a great time
being contagious for God in their various spheres and that
this experience will have a permanent impact on them.

Him. Pray for right attitudes in their lives.

Momentum is building up for TeenStreet Malaysia 2007 as we see God bringing people and plans together. Two months to go, and your prayers remain vital. Keep praying for the teens and TeenStreet organizing teams!

PRAISE GOD for…

TeenStreet Band. Praise God for answering our prayer for a suitable band with committed members to lead worship at TeenStreet! Pray that God’s hand will be upon them as they prepare.

The Team. Thank God for providing the various organizing teams with personnel and creative ideas, especially for site design and Prayer Room. Continue to praise God for how He is bringing together volunteers to serve on the program, services, logistics and administration teams.

TeenStreet Germany. As we look forward to TeenStreet Malaysia 07, let’s praise God for His work in the hearts of teens elsewhere. 3,000 teens from all over Europe gathered together in Germany (28 Jul – 4 Aug) to learn how to be Contagious and infect their sphere for Christ. Praise God for what they learned about HIV/AIDS, and for their enthusiasm in raising tremendous financial support for HIV/AIDS ministry amongst children and youth. Pray that as the teens return to their home situations, they will keep allowing God to work in their lives, so that they will be who they were created to be and contagiously affect others around them with the love of Christ.

PRAY for…

Teenstreet Malaysia Reunion (Oct 21). Pray that as teens and staff get together again, they will connect and have a great time. Pray that everyone will be blessed and motivated by God as they spend time in games, worship, prayer, and revisit previous TeenStreet challenges – to “Love God, Love People” (2005) and be transformed into Christ-likeness in “Metamorphosis” (2006).
Coach, Service Crew and Staff Training (Nov 3). Pray that God will bring together as many coaches, service crew and staff as possible for a fruitful time of getting to know each other, encouragement, and in-depth training for ministry at TeenStreet 2007. Pray for clear vision, unity of heart and purpose, and empowerment from God.

· Registration. Pray that more teens will participate in this year’s TeenStreet and will register early to facilitate planning.

· TNT.Race. Pray for creativity in planning the TNT.Race and that that God will give teens a passion to collect funds to support ministry for HIV/AIDS.

TiM (Teens in Mission). Pray that God will speak to the hearts of teens even now to decide that they will step out of their comfort zone and become contagious for Christ. Pray that they will prayerfully consider getting involved in TiM after TeenStreet, namely mission projects ranging from work among the poor to serving in orphanages.

The Team. Pray that the Organising Committee and various organizing teams will be sensitive to God’s leading as they plan. Pray for strength, more creative ideas and resources for those working on program, site design, creative and interactive prayer, workshops and sports.

TEENSTREET 2007 CONTAGIOUS: INFECT YOUR SPHERE LAUNCH PARTY

October 3, 2007 - Kuala Lumpur - Get into the groove for TeenStreet Party 2007 Contagious! Parimalam Balasubramaniam, TeenStreet Director says, "We are looking forward to the interactive launch party of TeenStreet Contagious - Infect Your Sphere 2007 on Sunday 21 Oct 2007 at 4pm."

TeenStreet participants, coaches, service team. Prayer team, committee and friends are welcome to the party to check out what’s going to happen at TeenStreet this year. You will get a fun and zany spiritual health check at the party! 1.a.m. worship band will guide you through a time of worship. 1.a.m. worship band recently released their album SOLD OUT for Jesus. DJ Odin will get us grooving as he hits the decks with Christian funky re-mixes.

"TeenStreet is an event for Christian teenagers 13-17 years old brought to you by OM Malaysia. We will be holding it from December 8 - 13, 2007 at Kolej Tuanku Jaafar, Mantin, Seremban. It is an international event for Christian teenagers who want to grow in their friendship with Jesus and reflect their friendship in their world," says Parimalam Balasubramaniam.

“We extended the registration date for TeenStreet to 15 Oct 2007 as there has been a last-minute rush to sign up. Places are going fast, We’ve also got the special program Teens-in-Missions this year,” says Parimalam Balasubramaniam.

To date around 65 million people have been infected with HIV and AIDS has killed more than 25 million people since it was first recognised in 1981. The vast majority of the 38.6 million people living with HIV in 2005 are unaware of their status. AIDS is among the greatest development and security issues facing the world today. In 2005 AIDS claimed the lives of 2.8 million people and over 4 million people were newly infected with the virus, ” said Parimalam Balasubramaniam.

TeenStreet
2007 will focus on motivating teenagers to make a difference in the lives
of those they are in touch with. This year, Christian teens will be
challenged to look at their influence in this world in a whole new and radical
way. Teens are NOT meant to be infected by the world but instead to infect
their family, friends, community, and church (their sphere) with the powerful and
awesome love of Christ! Please join us as we pray and plan for TeenStreet 2007.

TNT means Teens Need Teens. The TNT.Race is an avenue to help teens reflect Jesus by serving and supporting other teenagers around the world.
The funds raised from this year’s TNT.Race will go to support people living with HIV/AIDS.

PRAISE GOD for…
• Teenstreet 2007. This is the third TeenStreet
that will be held in Malaysia and we thank God
for a fresh opportunity to be involved in His work
with teenagers across Malaysia and the surrounding
region.
• Kolej Tuanku Jaafar, Seremban. Last year this
venue proved to be excellent for TeenStreet with
ample space and comfortable living facilities.
Thank God for making it available to us again
this year at only a slight increase in cost.
• The Team. Several vital roles in the program,
services, logistics and administration teams have
been filled. Praise God for the willingness of
the volunteers to get involved although requiring
a large part of their time in planning and attending
Teenstreet in December. Also thank God
for the renewed commitment of the international
team comprising Dan & Suzie Potter (USA),
Chris & Melanie Klienloh (Germany) who will be
coming with their two babies, and Denise Healey
(USA/NZ). The Klienlohs will also be bringing
some teens and leaders from Germany.
• TiM (Teens in Mission). This year TeenStreet
provides an excellent opportunity for teens to put
into practice what they have learnt after the
event. TiM gives opportunities for teens to be
involved in various mission projects ranging from
work among the poor to serving in orphanages.
PRAY for…
• Registration. Currently registration for
TeenStreet 2007 is low. Please pray that
those who are interested will sign up early
to facilitate planning. Also pray that God
will encourage and motivate more teens
to be interested to come.
• The Organizing Committee. Please pray
for Committee members, many of whom
have demanding jobs and other ministry
responsibilities. Please pray for motivation
and also physical strength as they plan.
• Volunteers. Pray that God will raise up
more people to serve in crucial roles –
Coaches, Ministry & Management
(M&M’s), Prayer and Fountain (counseling)
teams, Service team and Administration.
• TeenStreet Band. We currently do not
have a band for the worship sessions!
Please pray that God will raise up a suitable
band with committed members to lead
worship for TeenStreet 2007.
Service Team
If you are 18 years and above, come as Service Crew. Definitely hands-on roles await those who are
ready to pitch in and make a difference in a very practical way from day one. Areas range widely from
Hospitality, Sports, Cleaning, Security, First Aid, Technical, Administration, Interior Design, Audio/Visual,
Photography and Writing. Get first-hand experience at TeenStreet behind the scenes whilst working in
a team.
Prayer Team
Prayer makes a difference in the program and events of the TeenStreet week and in the lives of
individuals. Prayer Team people will be available onsite throughout the TeenStreet event to pray
for the general schedule of the day, the program and theme of the day, commitments made by
teens, specific needs of Coaches, Service Team, leaders, staff, and other matters that are brought
to their attention. Come serve teens and leaders in this vital ministry at TeenStreet.

Our Worship Band from City Harvest Church in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia did a wonderful job of allowing us to experience God's presence and celebrate it together! ~
Throne room continues to be the favorite of the teenagers at TeenStreet here too.
This generation loves to worship, whether they are singing, dancing, painting, kneeling, crying, listening to God, or praying . . .
they love the community times of loving God.

So, that's the update for the moment, they are doing rounds to check our rooms within the next hour.
We still have a bunch of sweaty, ready for the laundry clothes to pack.
Dan got the two suitcases of creative items organized and everything in it's place while shooting ideas and thoughts for this update to Suzie who typed away.� We had a couple of interruptions from a small delegate from the Brunei teens with a little keychain and bookmark for us to remember and pray for them, of course we will!� They are just a reminder of what we are doing this for� . . .�
to create a safe place and environment for teens to experience Jesus, continue to fall in love with him, and�
"be motivated and equipped to have a real friendship with Jesus and reflect him in their world" (our TeenStreet purpose statement).
Yes, it's true that is why we are joining God in his work . . . and He continues to work in these teens, coaches, and staff of TS Malaysia.

We were so blessed to have such a great "Program Team" to work with!
It was amazing to see how we could bond together and all grow in our listening to God
and presentation skills.� They were a fun group to work with!

As we pack our clothes, props, travel office, and leisure items (we didn't get to those at all yet) again . . .�
We wonder how do we pack away all the memories from a great TeenStreet Week in Malaysia?��
How do we take along the 350 faces from 14 distant countries and places?
(Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Philippines, Myanmar,�South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Germany, UK, Sweden, and 2 more)
How can we remember to pray especially for the young people who made new commitments to Jesus?
or committed to live the "Metamorphosis" . . . continually being transformed to "BE pleasing to God!"

Many of these teenagers go back to countries steeped in Islam, Budhism, and Hinduism.
For some it is very difficult to stand for God back home and TeenStreet has been an oasis for them.��
One 14 year old boy from Malaysia we had supper with last night is the only non-Budhist in his family.
He became a Christian as a result of one of his friends (from TeenStreet last year) who invited him to his church and told him about Jesus.
Now he loves Jesus, but only has a few Christian friends in his church, and finds life very difficult.
Another one told us how it is illegal for him to share Jesus with his friend.
Yet we are calling these teenagers to be "salt and light".
When has Christianity really ever been safe?

"just a thought . . . "
It is interesting that Jesus lets us choose who gets to hear about him and who is forever lost.
If people never choose Jesus, it's their fault.� But if they never hear about Jesus, it's our fault.

Metamorphosis was all about "flying", living your live in a way that is pleasing to God and reflecting it out into our world.
Please pray for these teenagers as they journey back to their "real world" with real problems and real successes.
Most of them stood this morning in declaration that they are willing to be used by God to go anywhere, do anything, anytime for God.
That's a big commitment . . . those are the kind of commitments that change the world.
Please pray as most of these teenagers come from homes where it is far more important to have a good job, the right education, and look good.
This makes it difficult, because God is telling some of them to take on a very different lifestyle in order to serve the sick, poor, and hurting.

TNT.RACE WHO WINS? CAMBODIA

The TNT.RACE.. teens raised over RM25,000 for Cambodia's Pre-School learning centre. Net members were asked to run the experiential race going through the stations-LandMines, Torture Chamber, Meeting PolPot & Decoding Secret Messages & Protect Your Coach (WaterBombing). However, due to rain and thunder the TNT.RACE had to be aborted.. And the race was continued indoors in the Throne Room. Esther Yeo's Team beat Angeline's team arm wrestling! Kok Liong's team from Lahad Datu emerged champions via leg wrestling as they tied in arm wrestling. Cambodia still suffering the effects of war and the Pol Pot regime inspired the hearts of more teens/coaches/service team members to give in the final night auction as drawing, paintings, autograps and supper with Dan & Suzie were auctioned off. Indeed the winners are the Cambodian Children who have a hope and a future through us @ TeenStreet.

INTERACTION ZONE

We enjoyed the Interaction Zone.. from chess, scrabble,Playstation board and card games. Some of us were playing, Monkey/Banana, 007, Bottle-game, CLUEDO or just hanging out. Some were really foreign games!!! On Final night, interaction zone became a dance zone where we tried out or hip hop, salsa and latin moves. For some of us were just moved.or learnt how to move.. hehehehe..:-)

BIBLE NINJA TEACHES S[WORD] SKILLS

Bible Ninja stalked into the Throne Room with his sword to introduce the verse for the day, “Romans 1-2-Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of Life set me free from the law of sin and death.” Holding his sword—Holy Bible he kept us all mesmerised on memorising God’s word in Japanese accent or Malaysian slang. Bible Exponents battled to memorise Romans 8:1-14 Few were champions this year!

Sunday, December 9, 2006—Mantin, Malaysia. TeenStreet kicked off with 360 coaches, teenagers, service team and staff. People came from Brunei, Singapore, Philippines, USA, UK, Germany, Myanmar, Australia, South Africa to attend TeenStreet Malaysia Metamorphosis in its second year.
Parimalam Balasubramaniam, TeenStreet Malaysia Director says, “I’ve waited nine months to see this happen and I’m very happy all of you are here at TeenStreet.”
Dan & Suzie Potter, OM Youth Specialists return to TeenStreet Malaysia bringing the message of Metamorphosis—the heart of change. Teaching alongside Dan & Suzie are Christian and Melanie Klienloh (Germany) and Denise (New Zealand). Malaysian homegrown talent, Yong Foo Seng and Jeremy Eng also took turns to share their testimonies and teach.
Dan and Suzie Potter shared the butterfly life-cycle with in an innovative and creative way and urged the everyone to undergo transformation. They said, “There are two trees –the tree of life and the knowledge of good and evil. One tree leads to life the other to sin and death. You need to choose.”
Christian, Melanie, Denise, Foo Seng and Jeremy shared their testimonies of how God transformed their lives and where they stood. Stories of courtship, brokenness and attitudinal change in required in the mind, body and sprit inspired us all to think about our lives.
One teen when asked about the program responded, “Its cool. WOW.”

As I write this to, the OM Malaysia office is a buzz of activity. Name tags assembled, final details are being confirmed with Kolej Tunku Jaafar, décor material is purchased, plans for the TNT.Race obstacle course are unfolding, procurement of audio visual equipment and lighting for the Metamorphosis Hall and the list goes on. Meanwhile the Program Team is making arrangements to fly in from the US, Germany and New Zealand. The worship teams are rehearsing. In the midst of all this, we continue to ask God to help each one of us experience a Metamorphosis.

TeenStreet is 3 weeks away! God has been working in exciting ways as the event approaches, and we want to praise Him for each thing He has done. Parimalam Balasubramaniam, TeenStreet Malaysia Director says, “We don’t depend on good planning, dedicated leaders and an exciting program … it is God whom we need to depend on for TeenStreet to be truly fruitful.” Join us as we continue to wait upon God in our final preparations, praying He will work a wondrous METAMORPHOSIS and transform the hearts of all who will be at TeenStreet.

· Praise God for growing excitement for TeenStreet.
· Praise God for 203 teens who have registered, provision of 40 Service Team, 37 Coaches, 8 Ministry and Management personnel (M&Ms), 6 intercessors, 6 counselors, and 34 other staff. Thank Him for making it possible for many to come, teens and staff alike. Praise Him for answering specific prayers for female Coaches, Fountain
(counseling) Team people, Communications staff and a Worship Team to play on 10 December.

· Praise God for providing in such a wonderful way the TeenStreet site at Kolej Tuanku Jaafar, its owners, staff and students, that they have been very helpful as we make preparations.

· Praise God for the Leaders’ Training I on 11 Nov at Gereja Methodist Subang Jaya. Thank Him for a good time of fellowship and equipping.

· Spend today praying for the work of God in Kra Nhoung village, Cambodia. Pray for the prevention of accidental deaths among toddlers and pre-school children in the village. Babies and toddlers are left unsupervised as their mothers tend the rice fields and often drown in the waters of the fields.
· Pray for the growth of the pre-school learning centre in Kra Nhoung village, that it will be a refuge for many toddlers and pre-school children who are at risk.

· Pray for workshops “Rope Evangelism”, “Art Jam!”, “Hip Hop”, “Journalism”, “Law & Order”, “Miming” and “Beads”, that God will guide workshop leaders as they connect with the teens.
· Pray for an honest and supportive environment in the chat.room, held daily, where teens will feel free to openly discuss issues of life and faith with older teens and leaders. Overview
Still reccovering from trhee decades of conflict, Cambodia remains one of the poorest nations inthe world, not only economically but also spiritually.

The Need
The Province Kamping Speu, 1.5 hours from Phnom Penh is a palce of tragedy for many young mothers whohave not alternative care for their children while workingin the flooded paddy fields. Toddlers are left to roam the wafer -thin edges of the the waterlooged paddy field unattended and unsupervised. Each year the raining season commences in July bringing with it flooding and a cycle of tragedy as many of these children fall into the water and drown.

MTI Cambodia is providing an answer in one such provincial town.. Kra Noung village in Kampong Speu province. A Pre-school Learning Centre is springing up in Kra Nhoung Village where Sonn a long time daughter of the village grew up. Sonn was 12 when the Khmer Rouge forced her family to separate. She become a Christian after this dark period in her life and after having worked for a partner Mission organization, she wants to now take the message of Gods love back to her many family members, relatives and village friends.
She also has a Dream that the other sons and daughters of the village, still young and needing nurturing and protecting, will survive the floods and live to take their place in Khmer society.
Sonn wants to create a haven, a place of refuge for the toddlers and many pre-school children who are at risk as their mothers tend the fields.
MTI Cambodia wants to make both dreams come true. Along with the Pre-school centre where young children will be freely welcomed, MTI workers will offer Parenting classes, child health lessons, education training,and Bible studies which will become a regular part of this Child Learning centre to help turn Kra Nhoung Village back into a joyful place, a Field of Harvest.

imagiNations '06 is going well, we are in our 5th week, with only one
to go. They all depart on November 1.
It seems in many ways like they just got here, but because of the
relationships and all, it also seems like we have been together for a
long while. Pray for all of us that we will end our time together
well, and that the impact they have had on each other and the
community will continue to grow fruit for the Kingdom of God!

Dan & I were away last week in Houston, Texas for our Germany and
International TeenStreet meetings. (During that time Chip Kirk, from
OM USA were here to imput into the imagiNations group how to Practice
the Presence of God). Our meetings honestly were difficult in many
ways. Lots of details to cover, many transitions in growth,
leadership and development. We are praying hard this month for God's
direct words and wisdom in the TeenStreet's to come. In November we
go to Mosbach, Germany for more Germany TeenStreet meetings with all
the Home office representatives, and the other European leaders. So
this is our time to pray about specifics and direction for us and
TeenStreet, especially the international TeenStreets. We need more
youth communicators to be trained, since it looks like we are moving
towards new TeenStreets starting up in the next year and a half in
Sudan, South Africa, and Australia. So, we need wisdom on the
transitions of program leadership especially in Germany, Uruguay,
Brasil, India, Czech Republic and Malaysia. Please continue to pray
for us! We are also in the midst of writing the the new program
theme: Contagious . . . "Infect Your Sphere".

Joshua and Josiah continue to grow (both in height . . . yeah . . .
and in their walk with Jesus!). Joshua is 16 and a Junior in school
(next year is his last year in school, hard to believe). He has been
very involved in his soccer team this year. They just played their
last game this past Monday. It was good, but he is looking forward
to more free time and getting started again with teaching guitar and
hanging with his friends. He continues to help me out with leading
worship in both Going Deeper on Sunday nights and in church with the
Praise Team on Sunday mornings. Josiah is in 8th grade (the oldest
in the middle school). He is doing well in his studies and is a PAL
(a specially chosen leadership group who help out with things in the
school). He just had his first "DJ Schmoke" opportunity in DJ ing
the last Middle School dance (he is the one on the left below in his
Dad's purple velvet jacket - that he used to do his magic shows in).
The principal was happy he was doing it because it meant that he
didn't have to check the song list he would be playing. He also said
he knew it was a good dance (you can tell by the number of people
hanging out in the gym - there were only 3). Josiah is also playing
soccer on the 7th & 8th grade traveling team, even though the weather
is getting colder, we continue to support him and his team in this.

OM Malaysia and Footstool players present Walk His Trail, a theatrical adaptation of the inspiring and compelling true story of young missionaries Jim Elliot, Pete Fleming, Ed McCully, Nate Saint and Roger Youderian, who were martyred in the jungles of Ecuador in 1956 while trying to reach the Waodani (“Auca”) Indians with the gospel. Adapted, produced and directed by Colin Kirton, and performed by Ann Choo, Ee Soon Wei, Dorothy Lee, Dennis Pook, Siaw Mei Li, Jonathan Tan, Desmond Teoh, Geraldine Teoh, Adrene Wong and Wong Mun Wai.God to raise a new generation of missionaries from Malaysia.

Pray that the seeds sown into the hearts of people will take root and grow.

WestPort, Klang, Malaysia - About 30 Malaysian teens hit the Doulos for their first experience of what ship-life is like from 22 July - 23 July. Particiapnts attended programs, cleaned the deck, helped out in the kitchen, helped out with the programs, served at the bookshop and sold Doulos t-shirts.

What seemed to impact the teens most was sleeping on the cold wet kitchen floor at Port Klang Gospel Hall. One teen said, "It was difficult sleeping on the cold wet kitchen floor but the next day when I watched a video about people suffering on rock floors it put me to shame."

Another teen said, "I discovered life as a missionary could be boring. I only had to do those things for a few hours but doing chores everyday is something."

"I enjoyed meeting different people from all over the world and seeing them serve God. It was exciting to connect with people and do things for God," voiced another participant.

1) Introduction

Over 3,800 people took part in the TeenStreet Germany congress in Offenburg at the beginning of August. Teenagers, leaders and volunteers from more than 25 different nations gathered to explore the theme of Metamorphosis - the heart of change.

Excited teens packed into the main hall in Offenburg's Messehalle exhibition centre for the opening night. With a countdown from ten to one, the youngsters cheered and clapped the start of the long-anticipated congress.

"Everyone has a chance to be changed by God but it's your own decision to make that step," explained Dan and Suzie Potter as they introduced the theme with Josh and Debs Walker.

"We want you to know that change comes from being in Jesus, not from trying to become better," they shared. "Metamorphosis is about embracing change and living it out. Our desire is to see you recognize who you really are in Jesus, to live passionately and to see Him use you to change the world."

2) Expectations and first impressions

Teens from across Europe and as far afield as South Korea, Japan and the USA arrived expecting God to work in their lives.

A group of girls from the north of Germany shared their thoughts on the first evening. "It's very interesting to see so many people from different nations and cultures - sometimes, I admit, it's a little overwhelming," they said.

"We are really looking forward to the coming week. You don't always experience living together with so many Christians. It's not normal but very special! We have even met friends again that we haven't seen for a while.

"You should see our accommodation. We sleep there with "only" hundreds of other girls. We had to squeeze together a little bit or maybe you can also say nestle :-) But it's OK!

"This evening there was the launch of TeenStreet Germany 2006. That was definitely cool. The spirit in the main hall was awesome. Everybody just waited for the starting signal. Everybody was cheering. Then Dan & Suzie and Josh & Debs Walker explained the theme of the week. It's about Metamorphosis. It really hit us what they said and we desire that change for ourselves."

3) The Flood

Final preparations were underway for the start of TeenStreet Germany 2006 when the hard working preparation team faced another challenge.

Corinna is leader of CleanStreet - TeenStreet Germany's cleaning team. At 4.30 a.m. on Saturday her cell phone rang. Outside it was raining cats and dogs. The message: "Flooding in the service team tent!"

"Wonderful weather!" she thought ironically, as she put on her raincoat and headed out.

This wasn't the first time that such a message had demanded an immediate response from the cleaning team. On Thursday evening the tent where the service team sleeps was flooded ankle-deep at the back because one of the drains was blocked. Water flooded into the tent and poured down from the roof like a waterfall while the drenched cleaning team tried to use buckets to bail out the tent.

On Friday the meteorological station had issued a thunderstorm warning for the Offenburg area. Nobody expected it to be as bad as the previous day. But when the Service Team tent flooded for a second time, Corinna and her team sprang into action and were soon mopping up the water.

Afterwards, in spite her fatigue, Corinna could still say with a laugh: "The flooding wasn't the worst; the worst was no breakfast before going to work. I love to eat!"

4) Raising money, losing hair

Timmy Austin from Northern Ireland volunteered to come early and help out at TeenStreet Germany this year. He also volunteered to lose approximately 24 cm of his hair.

After seeing a video about the Ukraine, this year's Teens Need Teens (TNT) project, Timmy wanted to help raise money for the cause. Most of the staff and teenagers at TeenStreet do this by participating in a race.

"I thought I'd really like to do something for that, but I don't like running," Timmy said. "They [some TS staff] thought it was a great idea [to cut my hair] but I didn't think they'd do it."

But word of the idea spread among the TeenStreet service team until Timmy finally agreed to cut his curls if 210 was raised for TNT. So at dinner one night a few buckets were passed around as Timmy sat with scissors to his head.

As the final count of 240 came in, Timmy's hair began to hit the ground.

"My hair's not that important. It wasn't a lot to give up," Timmy said. "It's only hair. It'll grow back."

And although Timmy says he's now a little colder without his hair, he's happy knowing the money is going towards a good cause.

And in addition to the funds, Timmy has also inspired others. "He stepped out of his comfort zone and cut his hair completely," commented one of Timmy's friends. "Sometimes you have to do radical things to get radical results."

5) TS:PRAY

At TeenStreet participants are encouraged to pray and praise God in creative ways. On Tuesday morning (August 8) all of the teens gathered in the open air to spend time praying together.

Like Moses in Exodus 3:4-6, they were asked to take off their shoes as they recognised that they were in the presence of our holy God.

Taking a nail in their hands, they stopped to think about how much Jesus had to suffer for us to set us free from sin.

Praying for friends or family members who are not Christians was a moving experience for many. Each participant wrote down the name of one person who is on their heart. These names, each written on a small piece of paper, were collected in a large bowl.

One participant said: "I prayed for my best friend. He is just about to become Christian."

Seeing the overflowing bowl another participant said: "It's very moving to imagine that all of the people whose names are in the bowl could become Christians!"

Thinking about the wider world, the teens wrote the words 'War' and 'Peace' on a sheet of paper and were encouraged to think what these words bring to mind. Many of them thought about the current political situation in the Middle East which naturally led to prayer.

Towards the end of the prayer time, people across the site stood up one after another holding a red paper to symbolise the spread of HIV / AIDS. The teens learned that every second one person is infected with the deadly virus.

The morning ended as each group shouted out in their own language, "God is good, His love endures forever" - a celebration of our unity as well as our diversity.

6) TNT Race

On Tuesday (August 8) around 1000 teens and their leaders took part in the Teens Need Teens (TNT) obstacle race at TeenStreet Germany. TNT provides opportunities for young people to reflect Jesus and make a difference in the world. The race is also one of the highlights of the TeenStreet Germany congress each year.

It took 100 volunteers to set up the obstacle course around the site in Offenburg. Runners had to overcome balance beams and money bars, a slalom course and a slope made slippery with soap and water!

Crazy costumes added to the fun and there were prizes to be won. Among the prize winners were a pair of alpine skiers and Asterix and Obelix!

A team of 40 people from Poland used the theme of Metamorphosis for their costume design, dressing up as a huge caterpillar. Just before passing the finish line each person emerged from under the caterpillar dressed as a beautiful butterfly; a real metamorphosis!

More serious runners raised sponsorship for the race with one runner completing 20 laps of the course. Already a total of €13,000 has been raised through donations and further gifts are expected to help gypsies in the Ukraine -this year's TNT project.

7) TNT Project 06

Imagine being dirty all the time because you don't have any soap or water. Imagine being hated and despised by your neighbours. Imagine living in a house made out of mud, straw and rubbish in freezing temperatures with no toilets, no doctors and no money. This is the situation faced by thousands of gypsy teenagers in Ukraine every day.

Lisa Howard, the organiser of TeenStreet Germany's TNT race, has visited the gypsies. She says, "About 4,000 Hungarian gypsies live in Mucaceve. Almost all are illiterate, there are no jobs and children do not go to school.

"Many families have five or more children and often they have only one or two small rooms in a house. Streets are filled with rubbish and there seems to be a general feeling of hopelessness and despair."

The money raised by the TNT race in Germany supports two projects that started last summer in western Ukraine. A youth development project is helping gypsy teenagers to lean about God.

Last year, OM Ukraine used most of the TNT funds to host a free 10-day camp for 110 gypsy teenagers. Most gypsies are extremely poor and for many the camp was the first time they'd stayed outside their village! This year there will be another five-day camp for around 70 teenage gypsies, which will be paid for by the TNT race money.

The Building Project aims to provide a church and school in Uzhgorod on the Ukrainian / Hungarian border. The local Baptist church has started a primary school for children from three gypsy neighbourhoods in the same rented building they use for Sunday services.

With funds from last year's TNT race, OM Ukraine helped the church to sort out legal documents so that they could buy a piece of land. This year's TNT funds will go towards the actual construction of the building, which will serve as a church on Sundays and a school during the week!

8) TeenStreet Germany Fun Facts
Did you know?
* CleanStreet (TeenStreet cleaning team) buys one roll of toilet paper for every person - that's almost 4,000 rolls in one week.
* Participants eat 1,200 kilos of cereal during TeenStreet.
* World News worship band members Reni and Elisha fell in love when they were just nine and 11 years old!
* The kitchen prepares 11,700 meals per day - that's more than 90,000 meals during TS, which is enough to feed one person for their entire lifetime.
* The oldest coaches (small group leaders) these years were from the Faroe Islands. At 69 and 70, they were sleeping on the floor with their teens!
* Teens from Japan travelled the furthest distance to get to TS: 9,000 km
* The Polish Metamorphosis caterpillar that ran the TNT race had 80 legs.

9) Don't forget who you are:
As TeenStreet Germany 06 came to an end, leaders looked back on a week of change and transformation in the lives of the teenagers.
For some, the TeenStreet week was the first time they had realised the need to develop a real relationship with Jesus. Others came with serious issues in their life and had the chance to talk and pray about these things. Still more were making significant decisions about their future and hearing God's call on their lives.
As they prepared to go home, Dan and Suzie Potter, together with Josh and Debs Walker shared a final message of encouragement.
God doesn't want you to go home with fear, but filled with His Spirit and with truth. The biggest lie is that it can't be done. But God's Spirit in us will continue to help you grow and He will continue to speak to you at home.

You can't go in your own strength. He is not sending us home alone. It's a together thing. His Holy Spirit is within us allowing us the opportunity to be who we are and fly. If God is really speaking to you and you're seeking Him then He will bring you through the year and beyond.
"Be confident in who you are in Him so that during the year you do not try to meet your needs through others or things or even from yourselves. When our needs are fully met in Jesus we can enjoy the things He gives without them owning us.

"It's not about what you're going to do; it's about who you're going to be. It comes back again to really understanding who you are."

• Continue to pray for God’s ideas, wisdom, strength and protection for the committee as they
plan the programme, people and logistics. Pray especially for members who have heavier
travelling schedules and other ministry responsibilities across August and September.

• Pray for God’s protection on the teens who attended TeenStreet India this year, for a lasting
impact of God’s message in their lives, and that they will keep the commitments they have
made.

• Pray for TeenStreet Czech Republic where most teens had a great time, but many are returning
to difficult situations. Pray that they will know and experience God’s grace in how they respond and that they may react in a godly way to the struggles they will face.

people to serve in these areas.

and anticipation as teens prepared to discover what it means to change in
the "Metamorphosis". "Metamorphosis is about embracing change and living it
out," explained Dan and Suzie. They told participants, "We want you to know
that change comes from being in Jesus, not from trying to become better. Our
desire is to see you recognize who you really are in Jesus, to live passionately
and to see Him use you to change the world." So pray ...
... For lives to be changed as young people encounter Jesus and are
challenged to live for Him.
... That the leaders will be able to move beyond “talking to teenagers” to
“talking with teenagers” about issues relevant to their faith and life, and that
this conversation will spread around schools and communities around
Europe.
... That God will provide the teens with role models who regularly live out
their faith in a secular, post-Christian world.

WestPort, Klang, MALAYSIA Wednesday, 28 June 2006 - The MV Doulos sailed into West Port Malaysia at approximately 8.30am greeted by George Verwer, Ashley MacDonald (Captain), Edward David (Assoc Director), Kenny Gan and a host of Malaysians.
Klang Chinese Methodist Church members welcomed Malaysian Kang D-Way, a volunteer on the Doulos with loud enthusiasm. Franky & Siew Kham Wong,parents of Malaysian STEP participant Judith Wong were there to greet her as she had taken the opportunity to go onboard the ship from Phuket to Malaysia after her fantabulous experience on the ship a few months ago. Lionel Tan, Karen Wong and Simon Chen were also happy to step onto Malaysian soil after sailing with the ship for the past couple of months.

Malaysians from all works of life were there to greet the 320 ship volunteers and crew from 45 countries. The MV Doulos, the world's largest floating book fair will be at West Port from 28 June - 31 July 2006 with over 6,000 book titles.

OMTeenStreet returns this December 9 - 14, 2006 at Mantin, Negeri Sembilan with “Metamorphosis” led by Dan & Suzie Potter, OM Youth Specialists.

“We believe that God is seeking to transform us from ugly, self-consuming caterpillars, whose desires are totally focused on ourselves, to the flight of the butterfly. This involves going against the gravitational pull of this world and takes a total transformation of our mind, body and spirit by God. He is challenging us to experience His original plan for us – LOVE, and is saying, ‘Come fly with me’,” says Dan Potter.

“At TeenStreet we aim to motivate and equip teenagers to have a real relationship with Jesus and reflect Him in their world. We’ve created an interactive teaching programme with loads of fun, thinking and feeling for the youth,” adds Suzie Potter.

Specially developed for young people (13-17 years old) who want to live as Christians, TeenStreet is a jam-packed week of powerful Bible teaching, contemporary worship, hands-on activities and vital Christian community. It takes place on an annual basis and has impacted and discipled over 20,000 teenagers across Europe, Brazil, Uruguay, Czechoslovakia, India and Malaysia.

Leading this ministry are its founders, Dan & Suzie Potter from the USA who love hanging out with various tribes of young people all over the world and are therefore no strangers to teens. They have worked with Operation Mobilisation since 1988 and have been Programme Directors of TeenStreet for the past 14 years. The Potters are experienced communicators and unique entertainers, blending several art forms such as illusion, pantomime and comedy to communicate hope creatively to a generation who base their “hope” on what they see and experience.

PRAISE God

¨ For the opportunity to work again with Malaysian Christian youth.

¨ Kolej Tunku Jaafar is the confirmed venue.

PRAY for TeenStreet

· Our goal and prayer is to see about 300 teenagers & 100 odd Coaches, Service team and other leaders attend TeenStreet Malaysia this year.

· Pray that God will continue to supply our financial needs which is expected to cost around RM175,802. This is due to the huge camp subsidies for the youth, bringing in a team of youth specialists from the USA, teaching materials and tools for creative ministry purposes.

· Pray for increased manpower – Coaches, Service Team members, Ministry & Management personnel.

· Pray for preparations for a TeenStreet Reunion on Doulos on 22 July. Pray the teens will have a great time and remember TeenStreet 2005 lessons about “Love God, Love People”.

PRAY for Dan & Suzie Potter

· God will prepare their hearts and sustain them as they run TeenStreet Germany in August and Youth Workers’ Training. Dan was ill earlier this year so pray for continued good health.

¨ Dan & Suzie will have new ideas and other creative methods of connecting with the teens.

PRAY for TeenStreet Committee

· Pray for God’s ideas, wisdom, strength and protection for the committee, continual good working relations and unity. Pray especially for strength and good time management as the members attend to other life and ministry responsibilities.

¨ Details of the programme, people and logistics e.g. accommodation, music, transport, trainers, service teams etc will be worked out in due time.

PRAY for the Teens

· God will move the hearts of many teenagers and call them to TeenStreet 2006. May they have a real personal friendship with Jesus and impact Malaysia and beyond.

· Church and family members will be supportive and encourage their teens to attend. Publicity materials are targeted for circulation in early July.

¨ Pray for Teens In Mission from 22 – 23 July, for teens to experience life, ministry and learning on Doulos. We hope participants from TeenStreet 2005 especially will benefit from this short term mission opportunity.
